The World About Us (1967 - 1987): Island of the Mountain Duck  (1977)

Barry Paine joins the fellowship of British Science Writers

Fighting ducks, curious quokkas and an abundance of ospreys share an island world of salt lakes, pounding seas and relentless sun.

This is the story of the Australian shelduck or Mountain duck Tadorna tadornoides and the small "Rottnest Island" off the West coast of Australia.
