Land of the Tiger  (1985)

Introduction

In the heart of India, award-winning filmmakers and husband and wife team, Stanley Breeden and Belinda Wright, spent two years filming tigers for this powerful and atmospheric National Geographic Special.

Land of the Tiger looks at the protected species of the Kanha and Ranthambore National Parks, celebrating these elusive and endangered big cats and exploring the delicately balanced ecosystem they inhabit. Interweaving footage of monkeys, deer and the tiger’s main competitor, crocodiles, the couple’s impressive cinematography brings the private world of tigers to life, as these magnificent creatures swim, play, mate, suckle their young and stalk their prey.

Set to an Emmy nominated score by Terry Oldfield, Land of the Tiger is acclaimed for its editing and minimal use of commentary, leaving the viewer free to appreciate these beautiful beasts, majestic in their natural habitat.
