Gorillas in the Midst of Man
(1989)
Written and produced by award-winning wildlife photographer Adrian Warren, Gorillas in the Midst of Man outlines the life of the mountain gorilla. As man encroaches ever further into their natural habitat, the film explores the steps being taken to protect the remaining populations.
An intimate and touching glimpse into the lives of these gentle, highly intelligent creatures, it follows a team of scientists and volunteers as they continue the research of the late ethologist Dian Fossey.
An interesting insight is gained into the gorilla’s social structure, including moving scenes of a mother cradling her two hour old infant. Narration from Brian Blessed charts the resting, feeding and nursing behaviour of these remarkable animals.
Filmed in the heart of Rwanda, it is a poignant portrayal of an ongoing conservation struggle, examining these charismatic primates in their tiny pocket of protected land.
