The Elephants of Tsavo: Love & Betrayal  (1990)

Heartbeat and soul of Tsavo

A deeply moving, highly personal account of the plight of elephants in Kenya’s Tsavo National Park from the 1950s to 1990. A former park ranger himself, award winning wildlife film maker and leading conservationist Simon Trevor provides a thought-provoking insight into the protection of these intelligent and social creatures.

Stunning aerial shots of large elephant herds combine with evocative scenes of drought and poaching, as the history of Tsavo’s elephants over the previous 40 years is discussed. Heartwarming footage of a now fully grown elephant orphan, mothering several juveniles who lost their parents to the ivory trade, offers a fascinating glimpse into elephant’s social psychology.

Beautifully filmed The Elephants of Tsavo: Love & Betrayal is an intriguing portrayal of an emotive and ongoing conservation struggle.
