Minsmere Nature Reserve

An early film from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), Minsmere Nature Reserve explores the avian life inhabiting this small pocket of protected land in Suffolk.
Journeying through the reserve’s heathland, forests and marshes the production features a wealth of bird life, stone curlews launch into a display during changeover at the nest, and nightingales flit through the woodland. Best known for its wetland breeding birds, intimate footage examines the lives and behaviour of several species, including bitterns and bearded tits.
The RSPB runs a renowned film unit, producing many award-winning programmes and providing a starting point in the careers of many of the top names in wildlife filmmaking, including Hugh Miles and Jeffery Boswall.
