Profiles of Nature: Solitudes
(1983)
This film presents an experience of nature through the use of visuals and environmental sounds. It shows how the use of stereophonic sound can enhance the enjoyment of nature and wildlife programming on television. From the haunting call of the loon to the crash of breakers on a rocky headland, this added dimension illustrates the pleasure to be gained from listening more carefully to the sounds that surround us in the natural environment. For this series stereo soundtracks are used in conjunction with state of the art digital mixing facilities to produce both stereo and mono soundtracks.
