Parks or People?  (1992)

Korup National Park and the Kilum Mountain Forest Project are two state-of-the-art rainforest conservation projects in Cameroon. Kilum is small-scale and relies on local expertise. Korup- the flagship of the WWF- looks to western solutions. Korup is moving people out of the forest as the way to save it, whilst Kilum is encouraging people back to develop sustainable forest industries. Each approach offers a chink of light in the doom and gloom that surrounds our rain-forests- but which project, in the long run, is more likely to suceed?

Parks or People? won the 1992 Wildscreen Festival Newcomer award.
