Faraway Look: The Virgin Islands
(1959)
An engaging glimpse into a distant land, Faraway Look: The Virgin Islands documents the first stop of Peter Scott’s journey round Australasia. Moving out of the studio Scott, together with his wife Philippa, investigates this Caribbean archipelago, examining its beautiful landscape and varied wildlife.
Exploring the islands’ many mammals, fish and invertebrates with cameraman Tony Soper, the couple delve into the beautiful gardens of Government House, snorkel in the temperate ocean waters, and hike up Tortala’s Mount Sage in search of the peripatops worm.
The starting step in their trip to the Galapogas Islands, Faraway Look: The Virgin Islands was broadcast with great success in 1959.
