The Private Life of the Herring Gull  (1972)

A round-the-year story of an island colony of gulls in the Bristol Channel.  The Herring gull (Larus argentatus) is one of the few species in nature that is undergoing its own population explosion (1972).  How have the numbers incresed?  Ought man to take action?  A sturdy yet graceful species, the Herring gull is one of the great successes of the bird world; some say it's too successful.
