Maurice Tibbles 

A prolific wildlife cameraman, Maurice Tibbles' career stretched over three decades and included work for numerous organisations including Survival, Channel 4 and the BBC. In the early 1970s Maurice left his job as a Daily Mirror photographer to pursue his passion for natural history, first working on Jeffery Boswall's Private Lives series.

After his debut, Private Lives: The Herring Gull in 1973, Maurice's professional career saw him working on everything from Danny The Champion of the World (1989) to David Attenborough's pioneering series, Life on Earth (1979).

Maurice had a long and successful relationship with the BBC, contributing to many of the Natural History Unit's most popular programmes. Amongst others, he worked on Johnny Morris' famous Animal Magic series (between 1973-76), John Sparks' experimental mix of wildlife footage and dramatic scenes, The Discovery of Animal Behaviour (1982) and multiple films for The World About Us, Wildlife on One and The Natural World strands.

Working with Survival's co-founder, Colin Willock, Maurice also photographed a number of films for the Anglia strand. He covered material as diverse as Chew Magna reservoir in Somerset to the remote South American jungle for Survival: Man-made for Nature (1972) and Survival Special: Giant otter (1990) respectively.

Later in his life his work appeared in the Channel 4 series, Wild Britain (1995) and in 1997 Animal Omens, shown on Channel 5.

Maurice Tibbles died on the 8th December 2001.
