Hans Christian Alsvik

Renowned Norwegian wildlife film maker Hans Christian Alsvik developed an interest in the natural world as a small child. Hans Christian's first foray into broadcasting was as a news journalist, and in 1966 he moved to work in the news department at Norsk Rikskringkasting (NRK). With few opportunities to write nature articles Hans Christian left the news department to concentrate on developing natural history documentaries.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s Hans Christian travelled the world extensively, making natural history documentaries for NRK, before turning his focus back to Norwegian wildlife and producing the long-running series Ut inne Nature, which exclusively documents Norwegian wildlife.

In 1999 Hans Christian and Arne Weise of Sveriges Television AB (SVT) developed the concept for the highly successful European wildlife series Living Europe, for which Hans Christian became Executive Producer. Hans Christian Alsvik retired as Head of the Natural History Unit at NRK in 2000, but has continued as a senior consultant on many of their productions, including Baltic Secrets.
