Travellers' Tales: The Undersea World of Adventure: Hans Hass: Underwater Photography  (1958)

Hans and Lotte Hass filming underwater

A captivating look at early underwater filming techniques, Underwater Photography was the penultimate episode in Hans and Lotte Hass' popular 1958 series, The Undersea World of Adventure. A six part series, it was broadcast as part of the Travellers' Tales strand and followed the famous pair as they explored numerous underwater environments.

From the depths of the Indian Ocean, Hans Hass demonstrates the use of various cameras and lenses, surrounded by a whole host of fish life. An absorbing insight into the nature of marine filmmaking, Underwater Photography celebrates the technology that brought the ocean world directly into the nation's living rooms.
