Diving to Adventure: In the Aegean  (1956)

Hans and Lotte Hass in diving gear for Diving to Adventure

The first series to be shown on British television from oceanographers, world famous marine photographers, and bestselling authors Hans and Lotte Hass, Diving to Adventure was broadcast by the BBC in 1956.

In the Aegean sees the couple looking back at footage Hans collected on an early excursion to Greece. An engaging insight into the birth of modern diving, Hass and his friends are seen testing out all manner of weird and wonderful equipment, exploring the various limitations and problems connected with each device.

The programmes proved hugely popular and the Hass' quickly returned to the screen, continuing their success, with the release of the series The Undersea World of Adventure in 1958.
