Kalahari - Wilderness without water  (1983)

Wildscreen Film Entry, 1984

This film shows how animals such as the brown hyaena and the honey badger have adapted to the Kalahari while Africa's most succesful hunters barely escape starvation. The survivors are scavengers, not the killers. Erratic thunderstorms do bring rain and briefly the Kalahari comes to life with bullfrogs emerging from their underground chambers to mate while insects gorge themselves on rarely blooming plants and animals, life without rain is the norm. When food is scarce some animals escape. Those that stay have evolved a remarkable resilience and flexibility.
